Republicans in Florida welcome Trump’s political activity in the area: ‘He is our hometown president’

Florida Republicans welcome earlier President Trump – and his political activity – to Sunshine State since he left office and dubbed him their “hometown president.”

The president, who moved to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., Has already set up an official post-presidency office to oversee his affairs and has already met with House leader Kevin McCarthy – just 9 days after leaving the White House.

And Republicans in Florida welcome the activity, saying the party will be “driven by Donald Trump forward.”

“When he wants an event, we would build an event around him,” said Christian Ziegler, vice president of the Florida Republican Party. Orlando Sentinel. “If he wants to make some visits around the state, we will facilitate. It is his party.”

He added: “He is our hometown president.”

Ziegler’s comment comes shortly after Trump met with McCarthy, R-California, at Mar-a-Lago, where the two agreed to work together for Republicans to take back the House in 2022.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach County Republican Party Chairman Michael Barnett sent the Sentinel that hundreds of Republican party members are expected to attend the Palm Beach County GOP’s annual Lincoln Day dinner at Mar-a-Lago in April. Barnett told the Sentinel he hopes Trump will attend.

“If he’s available, I hope he comes down from the apartment, says hello and talks a little,” Barnett said Sentinels.

McCarthy, who once said Trump “bears responsibility” for the deadly January 6 Capitol riot, reunited with Trump in Florida for a “very good and heartfelt” meeting in which McCarthy welcomed Trump’s support for promoting GOP house candidates in the next election, according to a reading from Trump’s team.

“President Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy to help the Republican Party become a majority in the House,” according to a statement from Trump-based Save America PAC. “They worked very well together during the last election and took up at least 15 seats when most predicted it would be the opposite. They will do it again, and the work has already begun.”

McCarthy welcomed Trump’s commitment to help elect Republicans to the House and Senate.

“For the sake of our country, the radical democratic agenda must be stopped,” McCarthy said in a statement. “A united conservative movement will strengthen the bonds of our citizens and uphold the freedoms on which our country was founded.”

An assistant familiar with the meeting told Fox News that the meeting was important in moving the GOP forward.

“They’re catching up because McCarthy will be in the neighborhood,” the assistant told Fox News. “They have had good conditions for a while, and that will be important for the party going forward.”

The Palm Beach confab was held after Trump’s team heard that the GOP leader was raising money in Florida as part of his attempt to replace Nancy Pelosi as a house speaker after the 2022 election. its schedule to participate, Fox News was told.

Trump’s team warned the media of the meeting, sources told Fox. Trump has been relatively quiet since the January 6 Capitol riot, the ensuing persecution and the loss of his social media platform on Twitter.

McCarthy believes that everyone should talk rather than go into their corners, and that also includes talking to the Biden administration, sources told Fox News.

Despite GOP losses in the Senate and the White House, Republicans defied expectations in the House by turning 13 seats from blue to red and winning a 14th place in Michigan held by the resigning libertarian Justin Amash.

Republicans could possibly pick up a 15th place finish in New York in a race between Republican Claudia Tenney and Democrat Anthony Brindisi that has yet to be decided. Democrats currently have a narrow 221-211 advantage in the House with three vacancies, making the GOP in a good position to pick up seats in the meantime, which has traditionally benefited the party opposing the incumbent president.

Trump’s indictment is scheduled to begin in the Senate on February 8.

Meanwhile, a statement from Trump’s office said the former president’s office will be responsible for his “correspondence, public statements, appearances and official activities.”

“The agency will also” promote US interests and … continue the Trump administration’s agenda through advocacy, organization, and public activism. “

Speculation about Trump’s post-presidency has ranged from possibly starting his media company to running a second term in 2024.
