Meek Mill apologizes to Vanessa Bryant over Kobe lyrics

Rapper Meek Mill tweeted early on Tuesday that he had apologized to Vanessa Bryant hours after she criticized him for reporting texts about her late husband, Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, whom she considered “extremely insensitive and disrespectful.”

Last week, the text of what was yet to be released by Mill with the title “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)” was leaked online. They contained the lines, “If I ever miss, I’m going out with my helicopter / It’s another Kobe” – an obvious reference to January 26, 2020, helicopter crash who killed Vanessa Bryant’s husband, their daughter Gianna and seven others.

An immediate backlash followed. The rapper born as Robert Rihmeek Williams seemed to dismiss these critics and tweeted on Wednesday, “any promo a story and you follow it… You internet pranks can not stop me” and “They pay to influence you now… It is almost like mind control “wakes up.”

Vanessa Bryant weighed in Monday night with a statement about her Instagram story:

β€œDear @meekmill, I find this line extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I’m not familiar with any of your music, but I think you can do better. If you’re a fan, well, there’s a better way to show your admiration to my husband. This lacks respect and pace. ”

Mill initially commented on Bryant’s comments, tweeting: “I do not think we have the same signal. . . I do not understand what you see. . . . I look online and laugh like I did [when] I say randomly s – all day on social. . . it becomes a trend to hate me every now and then but I feed off of that. ”

An hour later, however, he admitted that he had apologized to the person he felt deserved.

I apologized to her privately earlier today not to the public … Nothing I say on my part was addressed to a viral moment on the internet or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone who is grieving, change the subject!
