HOUSTON, TX – The winter storm Uri left many Houstonians’ homes damaged due to broken pipes and water damage. To assist Lone Star College students and staff in their recovery efforts, an LSC Weather Emergency Assistance Fund has been established to assist those affected.
“I know so many of our students and staff suffered unforeseen injuries due to the weather,” said Stephen C. Head, MD, LSC Chancellor. “That’s why Lone Star College has set aside aids for emergency grants.”
To qualify for assistance, students must be enrolled in at least part-time credit courses or be enrolled in a work certificate program and confirm that they have incurred weather-related expenses.
LSC employees must also determine that they had additional costs directly related to the cold weather to qualify.
LSC students and staff should check the school’s email to learn more about how to apply and to see if they qualify for assistance.
“All inquiries will be approved and verified by college presidents and principals,” the chief said. “We will offer grants of up to $ 250 depending on the total number of applicants.”
Applications will be accepted until Friday, February 26 at 5 p.m.
