Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris, two prominent lawyers in South Carolina, have agreed to defend Trump together with Joshua Howard, a defense lawyer in North Carolina.
“We are on the team,” Harris confirmed to CNN on Friday.
Harris asked questions to Butch Bowers, a South Carolina lawyer who heads the defense.
“He’s putting it together. He’s doing assignments,” Harris said. “We have a lot of work to do.”
Howard revealed in a court that he had agreed to Trump’s defense and asked a judge to postpone an arrangement, citing his need to be in Washington for the foreseeable future.
“The defendant’s council has accepted a position in the defense team handling the ongoing lawsuit against former President Trump before the U.S. Senate. As such, the lawyer is required to spend about next month in Washington, DC, fully focused on the issue of historic and constitutional significance, “he wrote.
Howard and Gasser could not be immediately reached for comment.
Deborah Barbier, a dispute in South Carolina, joined the team earlier this week. She has worked closely on several high-profile cases with Harris and Gasser. All three are former federal prosecutors. Gasser served as a temporary U.S. attorney for South Carolina earlier in this career.
